Academi STEAM yn ennill Gwobr ‘Mannau Dysgu Ysbrydoledig’

Ddydd Iau 22 Mehefin, cafodd Coleg Penybont y fraint o dderbyn gwobr ‘Mannau Dysgu Ysbrydoledig’ yng Ngwobrau Adeiladau Addysg Cymru 2023.

Roedd y seremoni, a gynhaliwyd yng Ngwesty’r Hilton yng Nghaerdydd, yn dathlu rhagoriaeth a chyflawniad yn y sector addysg yng Nghymru. Enwebwyd Academi STEAM y Coleg mewn dau gategori, gan gynnwys ‘Prosiect y Flwyddyn’ ochr yn ochr ag Adeilad Abacws a Chanolfan Bywyd Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Caerdydd.

Mae’r wobr ‘Mannau Dysgu Ysbrydoledig’ yn cydnabod potensial enfawr yr Academi STEAM i fyfyrwyr y dyfodol. Mae gan yr academi, sydd wedi’i leoli ar Gampws Pencoed y Coleg, amrywiaeth o weithdai, mannau arbenigol ac ystafelloedd dosbarth i weddu i anghenion dysgu ar draws bynciau Gwyddoniaeth, Technoleg, Peirianneg, y Celfyddydau a Mathemateg. Wedi’i ariannu’n rhannol gan Lywodraeth Cymru fel rhan o’r Rhaglen Ysgolion a Cholegau’r 21ain Ganrif, y nod oedd nid yn unig darparu cyfleuster addysgol amlbwrpas er mwyn cefnogi cwricwlwm o safon y 21ain ganrif, ond hefyd hybu ymrwymiad y Coleg i fod yn garbon niwtral.

Wedi’i adeiladu yn 2021, mae’r cyfleuster o’r radd flaenaf yn nodwedd bwysig yn strategaeth ‘Sero erbyn 2030’ y Coleg ac enillodd Wobr Green Gown am ei ‘weledigaeth ragorol’ y flwyddyn ganlynol. Mae Coleg Penybont wedi gwneud datblygu cynaliadwy yn egwyddor sefydliadol graidd, un a rennir gan Rio Architects ac ISG Construction, dau o’r sefydliadau partner sy’n ymwneud â chreu Academi STEAM.

“Rydyn ni wrth ein bodd bod ein Hacademi STEAM yn cael ei dathlu am ei photensial aruthrol fel canolfan ddysgu. Nid yn unig y cafodd ei dylunio i ddiwallu anghenion technolegol helaeth y cyrsiau rydyn ni’n eu cynnig, ond fe grëwyd ei mannau gwyrdd gan ystyried anghenion llesiant y dysgwyr. Mae’r cyfleuster wedi trawsnewid yr hyn y gallwn ni, fel coleg, ei gynnig i genedlaethau o fyfyrwyr yn y dyfodol.”

Vivienne Buckley, Dirprwy Bennaeth Coleg Penybont

Mae buddugoliaeth y Coleg yr wythnos diwethaf yn dilyn llwyddiant ISG wrth iddyn nhw eu hunain ennill gwobr ar gyfer ‘Cwmni Adeiladu’r Flwyddyn’ yng Ngwobrau Eiddo Cymru 2023. Nid yn unig oedd ISG yn bartner allweddol wrth ddod â’r Academi STEAM yn fyw, maent hefyd yn ymrwymedig i weithio ochr yn ochr ag Adran Adeiladwaith y Coleg. Yn gynharach eleni, bu’r cwmni’n hael iawn yn rhoi offer gwerth £2,000 i Goleg Penybont i gynorthwyo prentisiaid Gosod Brics y dyfodol, a threfnwyd iddynt ddychwelyd yn y flwyddyn academaidd newydd i gynnal gweithdai ysgrifennu CV, sesiynau ar iechyd a diogelwch, a ffug sesiynau cynefino ar safleoedd er mwyn rhoi hwb i gyflogadwyedd myfyrwyr yn y sector adeiladu.

Ar ben hynny, fel rhan o bartneriaeth tair blynedd gyda Choleg Penybont, mae ISG yn cynnig llu o gyfleoedd interniaeth i fyfyrwyr, gan helpu i ddatblygu sgiliau allweddol a darparu profiad gwaith gwerthfawr ar draws gwahanol dimau.
