Welsh Language
We recognise the importance of the Welsh language and offer a range of support and resources for students and staff. Students have the rights to letters and forms in Welsh, a Welsh-speaking Personal Tutor, counselling services in Welsh and, depending on the examining body, submit work in Welsh.
In collaboration with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol (National Welsh College), Bridgend College has established a Welsh Team to support students within priority areas including Childcare, Health and Social Care, Public Services, Sport, Landbased and Creative Industries. The Welsh Team are able to work with students on a 1:1 basis to ensure that those students who have already received Welsh medium education can continue to use their Welsh language skills. The Welsh Team are also able to help students who may have learnt Welsh in English medium schools so that they can apply prior knowledge in a vocational context e.g. Childcare students will learn key words and phrases in line with the new Curriculum for Wales.
College-wide events range from celebrating occasions such as Diwrnod Shwmae, St Dwynwenâs Day and St Davidâs Day, to Clwb Brecwast and Clwb Cinio â a chance to meet other Welsh-speaking students and staff, or those who are learning the language. There is also the opportunity to gain additional Welsh language qualifications.

Learning Welsh
Learn Welsh Glamorgan who are based at the University of South Wales delivers courses online and locally in Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Bridgend on behalf of the National Centre for Learning Welsh.
