2005-2007
One of the first players to sign up for the academy, Scott initially switched between the second and front row whilst playing for the Bridgend Ravens. However, once he joined the Ospreys he finally settled on the position of hooker, which saw him gain over 30 caps for Wales. Having retired as a player, Scott now coaches in the English Premiership with Newcastle Falcons.
2006-2008
Lloyd represented the Ospreys during his time at College before going on to gain international honours with Wales at both U-18 and 20 levels. Upon finishing his course, Lloyd then went on to sign his first professional contract with the same team, making over 150 appearances across his career. Lloyd has since launched his own mental health and well-being service called âLiving Well with Lloyd Ashleyâ (LWLA).
2010-2012
Huw played scrum half whilst at College before attending university. It was here that he specialised in Sport Performance Analysis, building on his knowledge of being a player and his BTEC. Huw progressed onto work at the Welsh Rugby Union where he was assigned to Newport RFC in the Premiership. His work ethic and keen analytical eye led to him now being employed full-time with Cardiff Rugby, where he provides feedback for their players in the URC.
2012-2014
Son of former Bridgend and Maesteg player Paul Watkin, Owen signed a professional contract with the Ospreys, a team he has been with since his teenage years. Owen has represented Wales over 30 times during his career, winning a grand slam and playing in a World Cup semi-final.
2014-2016
Having always had a keen interest in sports and nutrition since his time at College, Matthew pursued a Master’s degree in Nutrition at university. He has worked with both the Ospreys and Swansea City prior to being headhunted by Brighton and Hove Albion where he currently works as a nutritionist.
A powerful loosehead prop following in the footsteps of his father, former Wales international Paul James, Dylan was a standout performer during his time at Bridgend College. He has represented Wales at both U18 and U20 levels, recently featuring in the 2026 U20 Six Nations squad. On the domestic front, Dylan is a key member of the Ospreys Academy and has progressed into senior club rugby, representing Aberavon RFC in the Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC).
Harri is a dynamic openside flanker whose journey from Bridgend College to the international stage is a true “roofer to rugby star” story. After completing a Civil Engineering course at the College, Harri joined the Ospreys Academy and quickly made a name for himself with his high work rate and physical presence at the breakdown. His rapid ascent culminated in a senior Wales debut against New Zealand during the 2025 Autumn Nations Series. Harri has since cemented his place in the national setup, earning his second cap against England in the 2026 Six Nations Championship.
Will is a promising talent who developed his game within the Bridgend College Rugby Academy. A physical and athletic player, his hard work was rewarded with international recognition when he was called up to the Wales U18s squad. Will achieved a major career milestone by earning his first U18 cap in a competitive clash against Italy, marking him as one of the exciting young prospects currently moving through the Welsh pathway.
