Construction on the new 13,000 sqm town centre site has been progressing steadily throughout 2025 and into the new year. The development of the new Town Centre Campus at Cheapside marks a landmark era for Bridgend College, signalling an ambitious leap into the future of further education. This £60 million investment is more than a relocation; it is a dynamic project designed to inject a fresh sense of energy and purpose into the heart of Bridgend. By transitioning to this sophisticated site, the college is creating an unparalleled environment where academic excellence and community vitality intersect, providing a truly inspiring home for the collegeâs workforce.
The new development will relocate our facilities currently based at our Cowbridge Road Campus and is set to become a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation, boasting world-class facilities that redefine the learning experience. From a high-specification 200-seat theatre and professional-grade dance studios to cutting-edge design workshops and salons, the new buildings offer a state-of-the-art landscape for both teaching and professional growth. These modern spaces are specifically designed to foster collaboration and ignite passion, providing staff with a prestigious and high-energy stage to deliver twenty-first-century education.
This project is committed to a sustainable future, with the campus targeting a net-zero carbon in operation status. This achievement places the college at the forefront of green construction and environmental stewardship. Simultaneously, the relocation acts as a powerful catalyst for the regeneration of Bridgend town centre. By driving footfall and fostering a thriving local economy, the project ensures the college remains the central, pulse-beating component of the regionâs long-term growth and success.
