We offer a range of courses within Animal Care for those who have a passion for animals. You may be interested in working in animal rescue, veterinary nursing, pet store management or animal care roles such as zoo work, pet sitting, grooming or general care, and our courses can help you work towards a career in these areas.
Courses combine a mix of practical and theory and you will be taught by industry experts. You will also have opportunities to learn from guest speakers and take part in trips and visits to see all that the animal care industry has to offer.
Our on-campus animal unit also has a range of large, small and exotic species including donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs and a collection of exotics such as snakes, lizards and terrapins.
By the end of the course you will be able to understand:Routine preventative health care for reptiles, Housing/environment requirements of reptiles, The signs of ill health in reptiles, Health assessment and treatment of reptiles
This qualification covers the skills needed to progress to work as a pet sitter.
This Level 2 qualification covers the skills needed to progress to work as a dog walker.
This course includes understanding how dogs learn and how to develop a positive bond with a dog.
Learn instinctive behaviour of domestic dog and observe examples. Learn training methods and effectiveness of techniques.
By the end of the course, you will be able to explain what you can and can’t do in an emergency situation in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and recognise conditions requiring emergency first aid to include unconsciousness, seizures and shock.
This course is a practical introduction to the grooming business, enabling you to gain skills in canine grooming and styling at beginner level. Upon completion of both levels, you will have learnt all of the basic skills required to work as a dog groomer.
