We are proud to share that Bridgend College has signed the Armed Forces Covenant and been awarded Bronze status from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), exemplifying the Collegeâs unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of inclusivity.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise made by organisations to support those who have served in the armed forces and their families, treating them with fairness and respect, and to ensure they enjoy the same access to opportunities.
Bridgend College has not only pledged to support the Armed Forces community through providing educational opportunities but, in being awarded Bronze by the ERS, the College has demonstrated that its values are aligned with the Covenant whilst also being keen to inspire other organisations to do the same. Furthermore, the College is committed to being an armed forces-friendly employer and welcomes applications from members of the defence community, including reservists, instructors and partners of military personnel.
âSupporting our local communities and the individuals within them has long been something Bridgend College has been proud of. We are so excited to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant so that we are able to support those who have served in the military and their families, another initiative that is in line with our values of being people-centred, passionate and inclusive.â
Matthew Rees, Vice Principal of Bridgend College
Moving forward, the College will continue to show solidarity with the armed forces community by taking a proactive approach to developing its support provision, including raising awareness internally of community issues and supporting the Cadet movement as a whole.
The ERS scheme awards Bronze, Silver and Gold status to organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community. Whilst the scheme primarily recognises support within the private sector, public sector organisations are also eligible to participate.
