Cynnal seremoni torri’r tir ar gyfer Campws Canol y Dref newydd y Coleg gwerth £75m

Rydym wedi dechrau gwaith adeiladu yn swyddogol ar safle ein Campws Canol y Dref newydd yng nghanol Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr.

Cynhaliwyd y seremoni torri’r tir ddydd Iau 17 Hydref gyda’r Gweinidog Addysg Bellach ac Uwch Vikki Howells AS yn bresennol, ynghyd ag aelodau o dîm y prosiect a chynrychiolwyr o Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr.

Ein huchelgais yw creu adeilad sero carbon net, gyda chyfleusterau dysgu ac addysgu o safon yr unfed ganrif ar hugain ar gyfer addysg ôl-16 ym Mhen-y-bont. Bydd y datblygiad 13,000 metr sgwâr yn cynnwys cyfleusterau sydd ar hyn o bryd wedi’u lleoli ar ein Campws Heol y Bont-faen, yn ogystal â buddion i’r gymuned, gan gynnwys theatr 200-sedd, salonau gwallt a harddwch, siop goffi, a gofodau cyfarfod hyblyg.

Wrth fyfyrio ar gyrraedd y cam pwysig hwn yn y broses adeiladu, dywedodd Pennaeth a Phrif Swyddog Gweithredol Coleg Penybont, Viv Buckley:

“Mae pob un ohonom yng Ngholeg Penybont wrth ein bodd yn gweld gwaith adeiladu ar y gweill ar ein datblygiad campws newydd uchelgeisiol a chyffrous ac rydym yn falch iawn ein bod wedi gallu nodi’r garreg filltir arwyddocaol hon heddiw. Mae’n arwydd o’n hymrwymiad i’r cymunedau rydym yn eu gwasanaethu ac mae’n dathlu’r cyfleoedd ar gyfer addysg a dysgu gydol oes y bydd y campws newydd yn eu creu ym Mwrdeistref Sirol Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr. Fel sefydliad sy’n ymroddedig i wella cynaliadwyedd yn ein gweithrediadau, mae’r prosiect hwn yn cyd-fynd â’n nodau strategol a’n taith i fod yn sero net erbyn 2030.”

Vikki Howells AS, y Gweinidog Addysg Bellach ac Uwch, Viv Buckley, Pennaeth a Phrif Swyddog Gweithredol Coleg Penybont ac Emma Adamson, Cadeirydd Corff Llywodraethu Coleg Penybont

Darparwyd £50m o gyllid gan Lywodraeth Cymru trwy’r Rhaglen Cymunedau Dysgu Cynaliadwy. Mae’r Rhaglen yn darparu buddsoddiad hirdymor i ysgolion a cholegau yng Nghymru, gyda mwy na £2.6bn wedi’i fuddsoddi ers 2012.

Wrth gydnabod y garreg filltir hon yn y prosiect, dywedodd y Gweinidog Addysg Bellach ac Uwch, Vikki Howells:

“Cyhoeddais yn ddiweddar fy ymrwymiad i gynyddu gweledigrwydd llwybrau academaidd a galwedigaethol i ddysgwyr ôl-16 yng Nghymru. Mae rhan o’r gwaith hwn yn cynnwys buddsoddi yn ein colegau fel eu bod yn cynnig i staff a dysgwyr cyfleusterau dysgu ac addysgu o ansawdd uchel.

“Colegau yw curiad calon ein cymunedau lleol, ac mae’r prosiect yn cefnogi ein polisi Canol Trefi yn Gyntaf yn llwyr, gan helpu i roi bywyd newydd i’r dref, a darparu lleoliad hynod gynaliadwy i staff a dysgwyr.

“Hon yw fy seremoni torri’r tir gyntaf yn fy rôl newydd, a gwych yw gweld y coleg, Llywodraeth Cymru a’r awdurdod lleol yn cydweithio.”

Mae Willmott Dixon, prif gontractwr y prosiect, wedi tyfu gwreiddiau dwfn ym Mhen-y-bont ar Ogwr dros y blynyddoedd, o’u prosiectau adeiladu i’w gwaith cymunedol yn y rhanbarth.

Dywedodd Richard Jones, Cyfarwyddwr Willmott Dixon:

“Rydym yn falch iawn o fod yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth â Choleg Penybont unwaith eto. Bydd campws newydd y Coleg nid yn unig yn darparu cyfleusterau addysgu a dysgu eithriadol, ond hefyd yn cefnogi trawsnewidiad canol y dref. Mae gennym lawer iawn o brofiad o gyflawni prosiectau addysg bellach ac rwy’n hyderus y bydd ein perthynas gydweithredol â’r Coleg, ein partneriaid a’n rhanddeiliaid yn arwain at adeiladu adeilad a fydd yn galluogi myfyrwyr a’r gymuned ehangach i ffynnu.”

Rio Architects sydd wedi darparu dyluniadau’r campws newydd, ar ôl partneru gyda ni yn y gorffennol ar gyfer datblygiad ein Hacademi STEAM arobryn ar Gampws Pencoed. Gyda ffocws ar ddatblygu cynaliadwy, effeithlonrwydd amgylcheddol ac arloesi technegol, mae’r cynlluniau’n cyd-fynd â llawer o werthoedd sefydliadol craidd y Coleg.

Mae’r cynlluniau trawsnewidiol hyn yn cynrychioli buddsoddiad o fwy na £75 miliwn i hyfforddi pobl ifanc ym Mhen-y-bont ar Ogwr ac aelodau o’r gymuned sydd angen cyfleoedd i ailhyfforddi ac ennill sgiliau cyflogadwyedd gwerthfawr. Bydd y buddsoddiad hefyd yn lleihau ein heffaith amgylcheddol, gyda chynlluniau i gysylltu â’r system gwresogi ardal newydd ym Mhen-y-bont. Bydd y datblygiad, sydd wedi’i ariannu’n rhannol gan Raglen Cymunedau Dysgu Cynaliadwy Llywodraeth Cymru, yn chwarae rhan allweddol yn y gwaith o adfywio canol tref Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr, gan gefnogi busnesau lleol a defnyddio cysylltiadau trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus i’r dref.

Dros y misoedd nesaf, bydd y gymuned yn gweld gweithgarwch sylweddol ar y safle wrth i graeniau twr gyrraedd i ddechrau adeiladu’r ffrâm goncrit cyfnerthedig. Yn gynnar yn 2025, bydd fframwaith y prif adeilad yn cael ei gwblhau gan ganiatáu i systemau ffenestr a chladin pwrpasol gael eu gosod.
