Prosiect MALCOLM: potensial pŵer y pedal

Lansiwyd Prosiect MALCOLM, menter ar y cyd rhwng Coleg Penybont a Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Cwm Taf Morgannwg, yn Academi STEAM y Coleg heddiw. Mae’r prosiect yn dangos sut mae’r defnydd o dechnoleg addasol yn gallu troi pŵer pedalau yn ffynhonnell ynni cynaliadwy.

Yn llawn heriau rhyngweithiol i fyfyrwyr a’r cyfle i ddysgu am bwysigrwydd ac effaith technoleg werdd, denodd y lansiad nifer fawr o bobl. Roedd tua 100 o ddisgyblion ysgol, cynrychiolwyr o Brifysgol Caerdydd, Tîm Arloesi’r GIG, a’r Cynghorydd Jane Gebbie o Gyngor Fwrdeistref Sirol Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr yn bresennol, ymhlith eraill.

Mae MALCOLM yn sefyll am “Manufacturing Adaptable Learning Collaboration of Learner Minds,” ethos sydd wrth wraidd y prosiect. Mae’r Coleg wedi bod wrthi’n gweithio gyda disgyblion blwyddyn 7 a staff o Ysgol Gyfun Maesteg i ddatblygu’r bygi a bwerir gan bedalau, a ddatgelwyd heddiw. Mae’r prosiect hwn wedi bod yn amhrisiadwy o ran ennyn diddordeb myfyrwyr yn y pynciau STEM gyda golwg hirdymor ar greu dyfodol cynaliadwy i Gymru.

Y cysyniad y tu ôl i’r bygi yw trosi’r ynni a gynhyrchir trwy bedalu yn drydan. Yna gellir defnyddio’r ynni yma i bweru amrywiaeth o ddyfeisiau, gan gyfrannu ar yr un pryd at iechyd a lles y defnyddiwr. Mae potensial a buddion pŵer pedalau yn niferus, o fod yn ffynhonnell ynni gwyrdd toreithiog i gynorthwyo adsefydlu corfforol.

Dywedodd Claire George, Hyrwyddwr Sector ar gyfer TG a Menter, sydd wedi bod wrth lyw’r prosiect ers y cychwyn cyntaf:

“Gwych yw gweld menter mor gydweithredol yn dod yn fyw a chynnwys disgyblion blwyddyn 7 ym mhob agwedd ar y prosiect. Trwy ymgysylltu â nhw ar adeg mor hanfodol yn eu haddysg, mae’n eu helpu nhw i wireddu eu potensial eu hunain o fewn y sector. Mae gan Brosiect MALCOLM lawer o ddefnyddiau posibl, a chyffrous fydd gweld sut mae myfyrwyr yn addasu’r dechnoleg yn y dyfodol.”

Mae’r prosiect, a ariennir gan Brifysgol Caerdydd, nid yn unig yn annog cyfnewid gwybodaeth STEM rhwng y Coleg a disgyblion blwyddyn 7, ond hefyd yn tynnu sylw at werth ac effaith datblygu ynni eco-gyfeillgar. Mae Coleg Penybont wedi ymrwymo i wneud dewisiadau cynaliadwy a dilyn prosiectau a fydd yn helpu i leihau allyriadau carbon, gyda’r nod o fod yn Sero Net erbyn 2030.

Gan fod ganddo nifer o gymwysiadau, mae gan y prosiect botensial mawr fel menter gymdeithasol. Bydd y fenter, a fydd yn cael ei rhedeg o’r Academi STEAM, yn cynhyrchu pecynnau prosiect yn seiliedig ar brototeip y bygi a fydd wedyn yn cael eu dosbarthu i sefydliadau partner, gan greu economi gylchol. Yn ogystal â hynny, bydd y fenter yn gwella perthnasau gyda phartneriaid ac yn annog datblygiad ymddygiad entrepreneuraidd myfyrwyr.
