Jane Hutt AS yn ymweld â’r Academi Adeiladwaith i ddathlu menywod yn y diwydiant

Ddydd Iau 27 Ebrill, croesawodd Coleg Penybont a Persimmon Homes ddisgyblion o Ysgol Gynradd Dolau a’r Gweinidog Cyfiawnder Cymdeithasol, Jane Hutt AS, i daflu goleuni ar lwybrau gyrfaol i fenywod yn y sector adeiladwaith.

Roedd y sesiwn, a gynhaliwyd yn Academi Persimmon, yn dathlu cyflawniad menywod a’r posibiliadau sydd ar gael iddynt. Cafodd disgyblion Blwyddyn 6 gyfle i gymryd rhan mewn gweithdy gwaith saer a gosod brics ymarferol ac i wrando ar Sharon Bouhali, Cyfarwyddwr Gwerthiant Persimmon Gorllewin Cymru, ac Ellena Hodges, Cynorthwyydd Tir a Chynllunio Persimmon Dwyrain Cymru yn siarad. Rhoddodd y ddwy drosolwg o’u teithiau personol i’r sector ac o sut beth yw gweithio i un o gwmnïau adeiladu tai mwyaf y DU.

Mae’n bwysig ein bod yn annog menywod a merched i ystyried gyrfa yn y diwydiant adeiladwaith a rhoi’r offer, cymorth a chyfleoedd angenrheidiol iddynt wneud hynny.

Mae wedi bod yn wych gweld prentisiaid benywaidd heddiw yn dangos eu sgiliau gwaith saer i ddisgyblion ysgol, fel y gallant gael eu hysbrydoli a gweld beth y gallant ei gyflawni os ydynt yn rhoi eu meddwl arno.

Darparodd Llywodraeth Cymru bron i £1.5 miliwn mewn cyllid grant yn y flwyddyn ariannol ddiwethaf i gefnogi’r gwaith o gyflwyno mentrau STEM (Gwyddoniaeth, technoleg, peirianneg a mathemateg), gyda ffocws cryf ar annog merched i ystyried gyrfaoedd mewn STEM.

Dywedodd Jane Hutt AS, y Gweinidog Cyfiawnder Cymdeithasol

Fel rhan o’r ymweliad, bu prentis presennol Coleg Penybont, Betty Lee, yn trafod ei phrofiadau cadarnhaol o astudio a gweithio ochr yn ochr â grŵp cyfoedion gwrywaidd yn bennaf.

Mae’r diwydiant adeiladwaith yn un sy’n draddodiadol yn cael ei ddilyn gan ddynion yn bennaf, gyda menywod yn cyfrif am ddim ond 14% o’r gweithlu adeiladwaith a pheirianneg ledled y byd.

Mae Rachel Lewis, Dirprwy Reolwr y Cwricwlwm Adeiladwaith yng Ngholeg Penybont, yn rhan annatod o gyfeiriad strategol yr adran. Gan ddod â chyfoeth o brofiad ac arbenigedd i’r rôl, mae ei phresenoldeb yn gwneud llawer i hybu cynrychiolaeth gadarnhaol i fenywod sy’n ystyried ymuno â’r maes. Mae’n dathlu bod nifer yr ymgeiswyr benywaidd ar gynnydd.

Mae nifer gynyddol o fenywod yn dewis gyrfa yn y maes adeiladwaith: mae 37% o newydd-ddyfodiaid yn y diwydiant adeiladwaith sy’n dod o addysg uwch yn fenywod erbyn hyn. Yng Ngholeg Penybont, mae nifer yr ymgeiswyr benywaidd ar gyfer Adeiladwaith ar gynnydd, ac rydym yn gweithio’n barhaus i ddarparu amgylchedd croesawgar, cynhwysol a chefnogol i’n holl fyfyrwyr fod yn bopeth y gallant fod.

Rachel Lewis, Dirprwy Reolwr y Cwricwlwm Adeiladwaith

Mae Coleg Penybont yn hyrwyddo cyfleoedd i bawb, gan gefnogi myfyrwyr a staff benywaidd i gael mynediad at gyrsiau a swyddi sydd yn cael eu dal gan ddynion yn draddodiadol.

Roeddwn i bach yn nerfus yn dechrau fy nghwrs am y tro cyntaf gan fod yna lawer o fyfyrwyr gwrywaidd, ond sylweddolais yn fuan nad yw rhyw yn bwysig, dim ond gwaith caled a phenderfyniad.

Dywedodd Alisha Thomas, prentis Gosod Brics presennol
