Gwersi trawiadol: pwysigrwydd cymuned mewn addysg

Ymwelodd pedwar aelod o dîm gweithredol Coleg Penybont â De Affrica yn ddiweddar i ddatblygu partneriaethau strategol, cynorthwyo â gweithredu technolegau digidol mewn cymunedau lleol, a chyfnewid arferion dysgu.

Aeth Vivienne Buckley, Dirprwy Bennaeth; Matthew Rees, Pennaeth Cynorthwyol; Catrin Sullivan, Cyfarwyddwr Campws Pencoed; a Scott Morgan, Pennaeth Arloesedd Digidol a Gwasanaethau TG ar y daith wyth diwrnod a ariannwyd gan Lywodraeth Cymru. Roedd y tîm wedi’u lleoli ar Fferm Middelpos, ger Malmesbury yn ne orllewin y wlad.

Mae Middelpos, sy’n fferm weithredol, yn gartref i 13 o deuluoedd ac yn cynhyrchu olifau a grawnwin. Aeth y tîm ati i gefnogi’r menywod a’r plant gyda gweithrediad dyddiol y fferm a’r clwb ar ôl ysgol, sy’n cael ei redeg gan Inspire Children and Youth.

“Er gwaethaf yr heriau niferus y mae teuluoedd gwledig yn eu hwynebu, maent yn gweithio’n ddiflino i sicrhau bod plant lleol yn cael y cyfleoedd a’r adnoddau i fynychu’r ysgol, yn dysgu sgiliau fel trefniadaeth academaidd, garddio a jiwdo, yn ogystal â chael amser i chwarae a datblygu sgiliau cymdeithasol.”

Catrin Sullivan, Cyfarwyddwr Campws Pencoed ar gyfer Coleg Penybont

Mae Inspire Children and Youth, elusen datblygiad gwledig sy’n hyrwyddo entrepreneuriaeth menywod fel rhan o’u cenhadaeth, wedi bod yn seiliedig ar y fferm ers 2017. Mae eu hamcan yn parhau i fod yn un syml: creu mannau diogel i fenywod a phlant gwledig a darparu cymorth addysgol cyfannol, ymwybyddiaeth iechyd a hyfforddiant entrepreneuraidd. Dros y chwe blynedd diwethaf, mae mwy na 40 o swyddi wedi cael eu creu ar gyfer menywod ar y fferm, gan dorri’r gylchred genedliadol o dlodi a cham-drin i lawer. Mae eu rhaglen yn dathlu posibiliadau entrepreneuriaid benywaidd ac yn helpu i ddarparu’r offer sydd ei angen ar fenywod i wneud cynnydd a llwyddo.

Cydnabyddodd dîm Coleg Penybont fod eu hymweliad yn gyfle dysgu gwych. Yn ystod ymweliad â Phrifysgol y Western Cape, fe gymeron nhw ran mewn trafodaethau a oedd yn ystyried themâu allweddol ynghylch datblygiad gwledig, gan gynnwys addysg, cyllid a sgiliau gwyrdd. Nid yn unig oedd y cyfarfodydd hyn wedi darparu’r wybodaeth i’r tîm i roi’r cymorth gorau i drigolion Fferm Middelpos, ond roedd hefyd wedi helpu i atgyfnerthu gwersi allweddol a ddysgwyd yn ystod y daith. Bydd cynaliadwyedd ac ethos addysgol yn ddwy thema allweddol a fydd yn cael eu defnyddio i gyfoethogi arferion addysgu a chwricwlaidd y Coleg o hyn ymlaen.

“Mae llawer o bethau rydyn ni’n eu cymryd yn ganiataol, fel mynediad dibynadwy at y rhyngrwyd ac argaeledd gwybodaeth, yn foethau neu ddim yn bodoli o gwbl ar ffermydd gwledig, ond maen nhw’n dal i lwyddo i ffynnu a darparu rhaglenni addysgol a chymdeithasol hanfodol. Y prif beth i mi gymryd i ffwrdd o’r profiad yma yw pwysigrwydd cymuned – hyd yn oed mewn tirwedd gymdeithasol-wleidyddol hynod o anodd, mae’r bobl yn parhau i fod yn gyfeillgar, yn groesawgar ac yn wirioneddol benderfynol o newid eu hamgylchiadau. Gallwn ddysgu llawer o’u huchelgais – waeth pa mor heriol yw eu sefyllfa, maen nhw wir yn credu y gallant newid y byd.”

Scott Morgan, Pennaeth Arloesedd Digidol a Gwasanaethau TG yng Ngholeg Penybont

Wedi dychwelyd i Gymru, mae’r bartneriaeth rhwng Coleg Penybont, Inspire Children and Youth a Phrifysgol y Western Cape yn dal i ffynnu. Bydd y Coleg yn parhau i gefnogi Inspire Children and Youth gyda’u gweithrediadau digidol, ac mae’n bwriadu creu alotment ‘Inspire’ ar y safle er iechyd a lles staff a chynaliadwyedd. Yn ogystal, nod y Coleg yw creu cyfleoedd gwirfoddoli parhaus i fyfyrwyr a staff trwy Taith, rhaglen gyfnewid ryngwladol Cymru. Trwy’r rhaglen hon, bydd aelodau o gymuned Coleg Penybont yn cael y cyfle i weithio ochr yn ochr ag Inspire Children and Youth yn Ne Affrica a chyfrannu at ddatblygiad cymunedau gwledig.

“Rydyn ni’n gwybod mai dim ond y dechrau yw hwn ar berthynas arbennig iawn gyda Choleg Penybont, ac ni allwn aros i weld sut mae’r ymweliad yma’n datblygu i fod yn obaith, yn ysbrydoliaeth ac yn arloesedd.”
