Ruth Rowe, Entrepreneurship Officer at Bridgend College, has been elected to join the board of directors for Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK). Ruth’s nomination was supported by Enterprise Education professionals from across the UK, reflecting her reputation and achievements within the sector.
Responsible for devising and delivering the entrepreneurship strategy at Bridgend College, Ruth will bring a wealth of experience in both business support and enterprise and entrepreneurship education to her new role, as well as energy, enthusiasm and fresh ideas. As the only director to be selected from a Further Education (FE) institution, Ruth is passionate about increasing participation from other FE colleges in EEUK events.
The directorship position is a three-year term and will see Ruth overseeing at least one specific area of EEUK to be agreed on an annual basis. Alongside attending board meetings, she will sit on the Practice and Professional Development committee as well as helping determine the strategic aims and objectives of the organisation going forward.
Ruth has long had a passion for helping students realise their full potential through enterprise and entrepreneurship education. Having worked for the College since 2010, Ruth has supported innumerable students in developing their business strategy and skill set to progress their business ideas.
Alongside her work at College, Ruth has played an active role in supporting the sector as a whole. These include chairing a track at the annual International Enterprise Educators Conference and being a judge for the annual National Enterprise Educators Awards. As an EEUK Fellow, Ruth also supports enterprise educators who are applying for a fellowship to gain recognition for their achievements.
“I am so delighted to have been voted onto the board by enterprise education colleagues across the UK. I have EEUK to thank for both my fellowships and my MA in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education, all of which have helped enormously in my role. I am very excited to be working with the other directors to help identify opportunities to support educators further across the UK and beyond.”
