Coroni Prentis Cadwraeth Amgylcheddol yn Brentis Sylfaen y Flwyddyn 2024

Mae’n bleser mawr gennym longyfarch Gwynfor Jones, prentis o Goleg Penybont, a enillodd y wobr ‘Prentis Sylfaen y Flwyddyn’ fawreddog yn seremoni Gwobrau Prentisiaeth Cymru 2024 yr wythnos diwethaf.

Eleni fe gynhaliwyd Gwobrau Prentisiaeth Cymru, sy’n cael eu trefnu gan Lywodraeth Cymru gyda chefnogaeth Ffederasiwn Hyfforddiant Cenedlaethol Cymru ac EAL, yng Nghanolfan Cynadledda Cenedlaethol Cymru (ICC) yng Nghasnewydd. Mae’r digwyddiad blynyddol yn cydnabod ymdrechion a chyfraniadau arbennig gan unigolion, busnesau ac ymarferwyr dysgu seiliedig ar waith ar draws naw categori.

Enwebwyd Gwynfor am ei wobr oherwydd yr ymrwymiad a’r ymroddiad rhagorol a ddangosodd yn ystod ei brentisiaeth mewn Cadwraeth Amgylcheddol gyda Welcome to Our Woods (WTOW). Fe wnaeth Coleg Penybont ddarparu’r rhaglen dysgu seiliedig ar waith ar gyfer Gwynfor a chefnogi’r sefydliad gyda’u prentis cyntaf erioed.

“Pan drodd Gwynfor yn 16 oed a dweud ei fod am ddod i weithio i Welcome to Our Woods, roedd y pwysau arnom ni i ddod o hyd i ffordd i sicrhau bod Gwynfor yn gallu gwneud hynny. Roedd Gwynfor wedi gwneud llawer o’i waith ymchwil ei hun ar y pryd ac fe ddaeth atom gyda’r cwrs ym Mhen-y-bont ar Ogwr, ac mae wedi bod yn llwyddiant ysgubol i ni.

Ni all pobl ddod oddi ar y silff i wneud y gwaith hwn – roedd wir angen rhywun wedi’i fewnblannu yn y sefydliad gyda lle i ddysgu. Roedd y penderfyniad i gymryd prentis yn un hawdd dros ben.”

Ian Thomas, Pennaeth Datblygiad yn Welcome to Our Woods

Ar ôl gwirfoddoli gyda’r bartneriaeth coetir cymunedol ers iddo fod yn 13 oed, roedd Gwynfor yn awyddus i droi ei angerdd dros yr awyr agored a chadwraeth yn yrfa. Bellach yn 18 oed, mae Gwynfor wedi cyfrannu at dwf WTOW a’i waith allgymorth cymunedol, gan gysylltu trigolion â byd natur.

Cenhadaeth WTOW, sydd wedi’i leoli yn Nhreherbert yng nghwm Rhondda Fawr uchaf, yw sefydlu ffyrdd newydd o reoli adnoddau naturiol a mannau agored er mwyn cefnogi hyfforddiant, cyflogaeth a llesiant y gymuned leol. Ymhlith meysydd eraill o ddiddordeb, maent yn gweithio’n galed i gynnal a gwella strategaethau rheoli coetiroedd wrth feithrin partneriaethau a chadwyni cyflenwi lleol er mwyn creu economi leol gadarn.

Yn ystod ei brentisiaeth, mae Gwynfor wedi cymryd rhan mewn amrywiaeth o dasgau, o blannu coed a chodi ffensys i yrru tractors a thyfu cnydau. Ar ôl bod yn rhan actif o WTOW dros y pedair blynedd diwethaf a datblygu ei ddealltwriaeth o’r diwydiant wrth weithio, mae Gwynfor wedi gosod y sylfeini ar gyfer gyrfa lwyddiannus yn y maes cadwraeth gyda llu o ragolygon ar gyfer y dyfodol.

“Roedd y brentisiaeth mewn Cadwraeth Amgylcheddol yn edrych fel rhywbeth hoffwn i ei wneud – gweithio gyda’r amgylchedd ond ar draws gwahanol sectorau gan ganiatáu i mi archwilio’r ystod o gyfleoedd y gallwn i gymryd rhan ynddynt.

Os allwch ddod o hyd i gwrs sy’n ymwneud yn uniongyrchol â swydd sydd o ddiddordeb i chi, ewch amdani. Mae’r brentisiaeth, i mi, yn fwy diddorol na bod mewn ystafell ddosbarth 5 diwrnod yr wythnos, ac rydych chi’n dysgu mwy o sgiliau ymarferol a pherthnasol.”

Gwynfor Jones, Prentis Cadwraeth Amgylcheddol yn Welcome to Our Woods

Coleg Penybont yw un o brif ddarparwyr prentisiaethau yng Nghymru, gan gynnig amrywiaeth eang o raglenni hyfforddi ar draws ystod o ddiwydiannau. Mae’r Coleg yn cefnogi unigolion i ddatblygu eu crefft ac ennill profiad gyrfaol wrth iddynt ddysgu, gan eu rhoi nhw ar drywydd llwyddiant.

“Nid yw cael prentisiaeth yn ymwneud ag ennill sgiliau gwych a hyfforddiant rhagorol yn unig: gall fod yn garreg gamu i yrfa wych ac i fod yn rhan o rai o fusnesau gorau Cymru. Rydym wedi ymrwymo i ddarparu profiadau addysgol rhagorol drwy gyflwyno addysgu a dysgu o ansawdd uchel er mwyn sicrhau llwyddiant ar ein rhaglenni prentisiaeth.

Rwy’n hynod falch o lwyddiant Gwynfor; mae’n wirioneddol yn esiampl o ysbrydoliaeth ac mae ei daith yn ymgorffori hanfod ymroddiad, gwytnwch, a rhagoriaeth, gan arwain at gydnabyddiaeth haeddiannol. Mae’r cyflawniad hwn nid yn unig yn dathlu buddugoliaeth unigol Gwynfor ond hefyd yn adlewyrchu ymrwymiad diwyro’r Coleg i feithrin talent a meithrin llwybrau ystyrlon i lwyddiant.”

Denise Brookes-Cooze, Pennaeth Dysgu Seiliedig ar Waith yng Ngholeg Penybont
