College’s Entrepreneurship Officer wins national award
18/09/2024Bridgend College is thrilled to announce that its fantastic Enterprise Officer, Ruth Rowe, has been announced as the winner of the Enterprise Catalyst (FE) category at the 2024 National Enterprise Educators Awards. Announced at the International Enterprise Educators Conference 2024 Gala Dinner on 5 September and organised by Enterprise Educators UK, the awards recognise excellence within enterprise and entrepreneurship education in UK higher and further education.
The Enterprise Catalyst (FE) category is awarded to an individual or team from further education who is delivering exceptional entrepreneurship education or practice inside or outside the curriculum. The focus of this award is on developing broad enterprise skills and attributes to be applied in any context including employment and entrepreneurship. Led by Ruth, the College’s ‘Be All That You Can Be Through Enterprise: Inclusive Enterprise Education at Bridgend College’ strategy seeks to offer exciting skills development opportunities to all learners. These include ideas generation challenges, ‘Using Design Thinking to Solve Wicked Problems’ workshops and specially created activities that gamify enterprise, such as the ‘Boom or Bust’ board game, similar to snakes and ladders, and the ‘Mansion of Secrets’ escape room experience, to name but a few.

In 2023, Ruth was elected to join the board of directors for Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK). Ruth’s nomination was supported by Enterprise Education professionals from across the UK, reflecting her reputation and achievements within the sector. Ruth has long had a passion for helping students realise their full potential through enterprise and entrepreneurship education. Having worked for the College since 2010, Ruth has supported innumerable students in developing their business strategies and skill sets to progress their business ideas.
