Having opened its doors in November 2022, the Bridgend College Pop-Up closed after a successful run on 23 June.
Throughout its eight month tenure, the Shop has been a hub for the College within the heart of Bridgend, providing a relaxed and informal setting for people to gain careers advice, attend course taster sessions and learn new skills.
Although the College will no longer occupy a permanent space within the Rhiw Shopping Centre, our Student Services team will return throughout the summer months. They will be on hand to provide career and course guidance, information about enrolment and offer options for your next steps.
Want to have a chat about your future? Look out for us in the Rhiw Shopping Centre on:
On these days we will have staff available to chat about student finance, careers advice and college life. If you have any questions, please contact our Student Services team at hello@bridgend.ac.uk.
The past eight months has seen the Pop-Up Shop host a wide variety of events and workshops, allowing people to realise their career aspirations and learn more about our College courses.
Here are a few of our most memorable sessions from our time at the Rhiw:
Bridgend Christmas lights
On 26 November we celebrated the Bridgend town centre Christmas light switch-on in the Pop-Up Shop, where we enjoyed live music, activities and face painting. We even welcomed the Mayor of Bridgend!
Repair Cafe
Starting on 25 January, we started our own Repair Cafe, which ran on a fortnightly basis. The Cafe encouraged local residents to bring in their small household items for repair, help others with their current projects and have a chance to make new connections. It was also a great opportunity for our current IT students, giving them the chance to put their skills to the test.
Town Centre Campus public engagement event
In March, we held a public engagement event to outline plans for our new campus development. Members of the Senior Leadership Team, along with Rio Architects, presented an overview of the Collegeâs ambitions, design concepts and sustainability goals for our new town centre campus.

British Sign Language workshop
We ran our first British Sign Language workshop in April, in which we taught the fundamentals of the language. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all and to helping people achieve their potential.

Conversational Welsh coffee morning
Passionate about promoting the Welsh language and culture, we hosted a Welsh coffee morning on 2 May, open to all who wanted to practise their Welsh language skills, enjoy a cuppa and meet like-minded people.
We are proud of our Welsh Language provision. Find out more about our support for Welsh students.
