Bridgend College’s onsite restaurant, Bwyty31, has been awarded a fantastic 5 star hygiene rating for its high standard of regulatory compliance with industry codes of conduct.
Following the most recent inspection, the restaurant team were praised on their implementation of ‘Safer food, better business’, a food safety management protocol, with clear monitoring and excellent staff training.
Having originally opened its doors under the name ‘Seasons’, the restaurant underwent a rebrand in 2019 to become the Bwyty31 we know today. Located on the College’s Cowbridge Road Campus, the restaurant is fully-licensed and offers a formal dining experience and afternoon tea every Wednesday daytime or Thursday evening during the academic term. Bwyty31 is also available for hire for private events and functions.
The restaurant is used to provide a real-life training experience for the College’s hospitality and catering students, developing their skills in the kitchen and front of house. This opportunity allows students to practise and embed new skills learned in a relevant work context, further supporting student employability within the sector.
Bwyty31’s excellent rating is the second nod this year to the high standard of the College’s eateries, with Clwb Coffi receiving 5 stars in February. Both venues are open to the public during the academic year, offering a contemporary, relaxed environment for a range of occasions.
