Held at Google for Education’s headquarters in London on 28 June, the inaugural awards ceremony celebrated excellence in utilising Google for Education. The College of the Year award celebrates and shares best practices that inspire positive change and transformation in education.
Colin Richards, Digital Learning Coordinator, attended the ceremony which brought together Google Reference Schools and Colleges from across the UK and Ireland. Our award submission outlined our implementation of innovative teaching and learning methods by integrating Google for Education to enhance experiences across the whole College. This has supported us in being a truly inclusive organisation, for example, facilitating Welsh language communication and collaboration, and supporting those who study ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) programmes. Google also supports our wider Digital Strategy, by supporting staff to develop the digital skills and confidence to ensure they are adaptable to developments in the digital landscape. Details of all award winners can be found here.
“I’m delighted that the College has received this award and it is well-deserved recognition for Colin and the wider Digital Team. We are looking forward to more exciting projects as our Digital Strategy develops and we will be working closely with Google to develop international collaborations and projects in AI technologies.”
Scott Morgan, Head of Digital Innovation and IT Services
The College achieved Google Reference status in 2020, the first college in Wales to hold this esteemed title, and Google Workspace is used across all teaching, learning and support areas. Since implementing Google, our digital capability has moved from strength to strength – with such a diverse range of provisions at the College, Google Workspace offers a solution that can be tailored to fit our digital needs.
