Armed Forces Community

Armed Forces Covenant

Bridgend College is proud to have officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant. The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise made by organisations to support those who have served and their families, treating them with fairness and respect, and ensuring they have equal access to opportunities.

Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS)

We are proud to currently hold the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) – Silver Award (2025).

Employers that hold this award have pledged to demonstrate support for the armed forces community and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

Bridgend College has previously held the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) – Bronze Award (2024).

The Poppy Factory

We have partnered with the Poppy Factory to support veterans with health conditions into employment, helping them overcome any barriers.

Leave of Absence

Our Leave of Absence policy supports staff who are Armed Forces Reserves to access time off from the workplace to undertake required duties.

ELCAS Scheme

Bridgend College supports the Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELCAS), assisting MOD Service personnel with career development.

If you are current or ex-service personnel and interested in the ELCAS scheme, please get in touch with our part-time team for course advice and guidance by filling in the form below.
