Bridgend College regularly takes part in the annual PRIDE Parade in Cardiff, celebrating with our LGBTQ+ staff and allies. We also welcome family members and friends to join us.
All Bridgend College staff are welcome to use pronouns in email signatures, name badges, and meetings to normalise discussions about gender identity.
Staff also have access to pronoun and pride pin badges to wear on their lanyards.
Each year we set up a stall in our Bridgend and Pencoed campus for LGBTQ+ History month, where we provide resources and pin badges for both staff and students to encourage learning and promote inclusion.
We also celebrate other events throughout the year such as Transgender Day of Visibility to celebrate the lives, achievements, and contributions of transgender and nonbinary people. We believe that an organisation that celebrates diversity is a better organisation and that in turn, enriches college life for everyone.
We are actively focussing on closing the gender pay gap and more information on gender is available in Bridgend Collegeâs Pay Gap report.
At Bridgend College we implement meaningful initiatives to support progression and we continue to actively engage with staff to understand what barriers they perceive there are to moving into higher-paid roles and ensure all staff have access to CPD to support their progression. We actively monitor progression data so we can identify any gaps or barriers and support people of all genders including female staff to progress within the organisation.
At Bridgend College we proactively use inclusive and gender neutral language to eliminate any gender bias, in our policies and procedures.
We have various quiet rooms across Bridgend and Pencoed campus that staff can access for space and quiet for working parents to breastfeed.

The College has signed the Menopause Workplace Pledge and has developed a Menopause Statement of Intent, to affirm our commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive working environment with recognition that those experiencing the menopause, whether before, during or after this time of hormonal change and associated symptoms, may need additional consideration, support and adjustments. This is underpinned by resources, and an opportunity for staff to come together to share tips and access support.
We are committed to being a fertility friendly workplace, supporting our employees going through fertility treatment through our policies, processes and culture, with guidance from Fertility Matters @ Work. Our Leave of Absence policy supports staff to access time off from the workplace to attend fertility treatment appointments.
