Luke Morrissey, BTEC National Diploma Musical Theatre student at Bridgend College, won first place in the Individual Disco Dance Under 19 competition at the National Urdd Eisteddfod in Cardiff Bay last week (25 - 30th May 2009). The festival welcomes up to 100,000 visitors and 15,000 competitors, with the best of Wales' youngsters taking part in song, recitation, drama, dance, composing, poetry, arts and crafts competitions.
This is the first year that Bridgend College have competed at the National Urdd Eisteddfod.

Sharon James Head of Creative Arts praised Luke for his achievements,"Luke worked extremely hard on developing the choreography for his piece, and I am extremely pleased with his progress throughout the competition. Luke's performance is testament to the high standard of dance training that students recieve at Bridgend College."
Luke recently also won the Youth Service National Dance Solo Competition, as well as being part of the winning duo and group competitions with other students from our BTEC National Diploma in Musical Theatre. Luke will next be performing the role of Cowboy Bob in Bridgend College's forth coming production of ‘ Footloose' at The Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl from 11th - 13th June 2009.
