The outstanding college committed to your success
Bridgend College are delighted to announce that a garden designed and created by higher education students studying at the College, has scooped the coveted title of ‘Best in Show', at this year's RHS Show, in Cardiff.
The students all studying HNC or HND programmes in Landscape Design, have worked tirelessly over the last 7 days to bring their garden to life, at the show venue.
The winning garden was designed by Lisa Madsen, whose design was selected via an internal student design selection process. Lisa has worked with fellow students to re-create her designs at the RHS Show, on what can be best described as a ‘student' budget, with the total cost of the garden project coming in at just £1,200.
The design focuses on texture and movement created through static objects.
Course Director, Derek Cashmore states: "...The design from the outset was strong and Lisa has pulled everyone together into a fantastic team, with only a gentle guiding hand from lecturers. The quality of the course can only be described as ‘outstanding' after recognition of our students achievements at such a prestigious competition...".
He adds: "...Lisa is a fantastic Bridgend College success story, having completed almost four years of study with us, both at Further Education and presently at Higher Education level...".
The concept of using the RHS Flower Show event, as the focus of teaching and inspiring student design ideas has allowed student creativity, entrepreneurship and team work to flourish.
