The Sports Department has three sporting Academies: Football, Rugby & Martial Arts which allow students to improve their performance in their preferred sport, while also developing their knowledge in the sports industry.

The department also excels in training students for development and fitness roles such as physiotherapists, nutritional experts and psychologists through their development and fitness programmes, and outdoor education programmes which focus on expedition training, leadership and prcatical outdoor activities.

Courses range from First Diploma to National Diploma to HND level, along with part-time YMCA courses and a HNC that allow students to study around work and family commitments.  Many students progress within the Sport Department starting with a Level 2 course and leaving with a level 5 qualification, and often return to College to update their skills.

The Sports Department also benefits from fantastic facilities including a Sports Hall with a climbing wall, rugby and football pitches and a gym, and is supported by a team of highly qualified staff who are active practitioners in their field of expertise. This ensures that their knowledge is up to date and relevant.

Public Service courses focus on preparing students for roles in uniformed public service roles such as the Police, Army, Fire & Rescue Service, Ambulance Service and related professions.

The College currently offers a First and National Diploma in Public Services which are practical, work related programmes taught by ex Public Service personnel from the Police Force and RAF.

The department also offer the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification alongside the National Diploma in Public Services and National Diploma in Sport (Development & Fitness), which accredits many of the extra curricular activities students routinely get involved with, such as community work, enterprise activities and learning either Welsh or a modern foreign language.
