Pathways to Apprenticeships - Engineering

Modern ApprenticePathways to Apprenticeships (PTA) is a Welsh Assembly Government lead initative to maintain a level of apprentice training during the economic downturn.

Bridgend College together with the Welsh Assembly and SEMTA, the sector skills council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies, is offering an Engineering apprentice training programme under this initative. However, there are a limited number of places so the sooner you apply the better.

Training is available in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and you will receive £30 per week whilst in training, subject to satisfactory attendance and progress.

This is a one year, full-time programme based in Bridgend College during which you will receive intensive training to equip you with the specific skills to progress to a full apprenticeship at the end of the year. The Pathways to Apprenticeships course will put you in a strong position to be taken on by employers looking to recruit an apprentice.

What you will study?

Four days per week you will undertake the Peforming Engineering Operations (PEO) Level 2 and key skills in Communication, Application of Number, Information Technology, Working with Others and Improving Own Learning, all of which are highly valued by employers.

One day per week will be spent undertaking an appropriate Further Education (or Technical) Certificate in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

The programme will include a minimum of 5 weeks work experience, carried out during half term and term breaks.
