‘Open for Trade’ - Best in Show Exhibition at New Arts Academy

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On Friday 22 June, Bridgend College was ‘open for trade’ at their new Arts Academy on Trade Street, Cardiff where they hosted a ‘Best in Show’ exhibition of Foundation Diploma in Art & Design students’ artwork.

Sharon James, Head of Creative Arts at Bridgend College says “We were delighted to be able to the exhibit the very best pieces from our end of year art and design shows at the new Arts Academy. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the talented students of Bridgend College and Cardiff Metropolitan University (UWIC) and welcome our first, new cohort of students for the Cardiff Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.”

The grade 1 School of Creative Arts at Bridgend College has taught the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design for many years, and due to their reputation for high quality teaching and learner support, were recently approached by Cardiff Metropolitan University (UWIC) to deliver this course in Cardiff to120 students.

Prospective students, their family and friends had the unique opportunity attend the exhibition, allowing them to familiarise themselves with the new campus, meet the tutors and get to know each other.   

Many of these new students commented at how impressed they were at the central location of the Campus and also the light, bright open plan space which is spread across three floors.

Students will also have access to UWIC’s art and design resources and accommodation has been allocated to Bridgend College students at their Tˆy Pont Haearn halls of residence.
