You're Hired! Lauren secures job with Sainsbury's

Lauen Jones & Sainsbury's TeamLauren recently undertook a two week work placement at Sainsbury's, Bridgend, securing a post in their general merchandise department. Lauren Jones, aged 21 from Penarth, has additional learning needs, ADHD and Dyspraxia. She is a resident of Weston House at Bridgend College and has recently completed our Certificate in Preparing for Employment qualification.

This is a fantastic achievement for Lauren and only possible due to the support of staff at Sainsbury's, who have taken students from a number of our courses on work placement.

Lauren says "I am sad to be leaving Weston House and my friends, but happy because my time at the College has led to other opportunities. After a two week break I start my summer job at Sainsbury's and if all goes well, there is the potential for a more permanent position."

Jon Lloyd, Sainsbury's, says "It was with great pleasure that we invited Lauren to join us here at Sainsbury's, Bridgend. Lauren impressed us with her drive, enthusiasm and her ablility to socialise with her colleagues. Our General Merchandise department are delighted that Lauren is returning to join them in July once her college commitments have been completed."

Weston House Prom Night 2012

Each year, Weston House holds a Prom Night including a prize giving ceremony at the end of the summer term to celebrate the success and achievements of the students.

Parents/guardians and Course Tutors are also invited to see the students receive their prizes, but are soon ushered out by their son or daughter who are keen to get the party started!

This is a great event, much enjoyed by the residents and staff of Weston House.
