IT Lecturer is 'Most Enterprising Teacher 2009'

James Taylor, Claire George, Luc BenyonClaire George, IT Lecturer, has received the ‘Most Enterprising Teacher Award 2009' from the education team at Enterprise UK, the campaign to increase entrepreneurial behavior in the UK.

Claire was nominated by Fiona Neeson, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Champion, in recognition of her hard work and commitment in embedding entrepreneurship into the curriculum at the College. This is the first time this award has been received by a tutor from Wales.

Claire George says "I am thrilled and honoured to receive such a prestigious award from the Make your Mark team and look forward to celebrating this outstanding success with all my student groups. "

The Make Your Mark campaign is designed to offer teacher and student support to get enterprising thinking starting in schools, through groups, clubs and challenges.

Luc Benyon, Education Officer, Make your Mark says  "The Make Your Mark Club is a fantastic opportunity for students to allow their talents and interests to shine, it's great to be able to recognise the hard work that Claire has put into developing enterprise in the College, through our Make Your Mark Club Awards. I'm sure she will be an inspiration to other tutors, and will continue to embed and drive enterprise not just in the College but across the local community"

The celebratory lunch held in Claire's honour was also attended by her family, lecturers and managers involved in College enterprise initiatives, and James Taylor, Managing Director of SportStars, entrepreneur and Enterprise UK Ambassador, who met with a group of Claire's students before the lunch.
