How to Apply for Part-time HE Courses

Bridgend College has an Admissions Policy, which seeks to accept all individuals who will benefit from Higher Education. Mature Students who perhaps do not have relevant qualifications may still be admitted on the basis of relevant life experience and evidence of motivation to study.

Stage 1: Application

Applications for part-time courses are made directly to the College and are received throughout the year.  Applicants are advised to submit their applications as early as possible, to avoid disappointment.  All applications should be made directly to Bridgend College on a College Application Form.  Where appropriate, you will be advised to make further application(s) to the relevant organisations.

You can obtain a Bridgend College Application Form from:

How Your Application is Considered: Once your application form has been received it will be sent to the appropriate Department for consideration.  The academic staff responsible for your chosen course will invite you to attend an interview.  The visit will give you the opportunity to discuss your application and view the facilities available.

Stage 2: Interview & Offer

An offer of a place will be made if it is felt you are suitable for the course.  The offer could be either:

Unconditional; where you have satisfied the entry requirements for the course.

Conditional; where you have been accepted on a condition such as you obtaining certain qualifications.  If you are made a conditional offer, please let us know your examination results as soon as you receive them.  Even if the results mean that you have not fully met the conditions of your offer, it may still be possible to offer you a place.

You should normally expect to receive details of your offer from Bridgend College within 15 working days of your interview.

Stage 3: Enrolment

Enrolment for full-time and part-time Higher Education courses will start September 2011 - you will be notified of the exact dates.

Part-time students will need to make a payment of half of their course fees on enrolment.  This includes students applying for a part-time Higher Education Grant.  Please bring you PTG1 form to enrolment so that it can be signed off by the HE Administrator.

Any students paying their own fees in full will need to bring their bank details to enrolment to allow completion of a direct debit mandate. Direct Debit forms can be requested in advance from Registry.

Students who are having fees paid for must bring a letter from their Employer acknowledging that they are willing to pay.Authority for Invoicing Fees forms can be requested in advance from Registry.
