Day Nursery

Bridgend College Day NurseryBridgend College Day Nursery is open 7am - 6pm, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks a year (excluding statutory Bank Holidays) for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

In addition, during school holidays (except Christmas) we also run a Playscheme that caters for children aged 4 - 13 years.

Clients who use the Day Nursery are:

  • developing their education;
  • staff at the College;
  • returning to work at an external organisation;
  • wishing to have a social and stimulating experience for their child.

The Nursery is divided into three units:

The Baby Units

The baby units care for babies aged 6 weeks to 9 months and 9 months to 18 months. Both units provide a calm, interesting and stimulating environment, with cots and quiet areas are provided for babies to sleep whenever needed.

The Toddler Units

The toddler units care for children aged 18 - 24 months and 24 months - 2 years. Both units are spacious, bright and airy, where children have the opportunity to enjoy a wide and varied range of experiences and play materials. Toddler units have quiet rooms where children can have a snooze if required, and each child has a key worker.

Pre-School Units

These units offer experiences and activities designed to make the transition from nursery to "big school" easier. A busy and stimulating environment, we encourage children to develop their independency, problem solving skills, promote positive thinking and self motivation.

Quiet rooms are provided for sleep if needed and for activities such as I.T. We also work on a key worker system where children can identify with a particular staff member.

Activities in all units include:

  • Creative
  • Sand / water play
  • Cooking
  • IT with appropriate software
  • Table / floor activities
  • Imaginative play
  • Outdoor play
  • Music

Staff at the Day Nursery

All staff at Bridgend College Day Nursery have either a CACHE qualification, BTEC National Diploma in early childhood studies or a relevant childcare qualification. We are also a training environment for students, however please be assured that your child will be at all times supervised by day nursery staff.

Food & Drink

Food is prepared daily with breakfast being served before 8.45am, lunch and then tea after 4.00pm. Snacks are also prepared mid morning and mid afternoon. Children who have a specific dietary requirement are catered for, whether it is an allergy or intolerance need, a religious requirement or simply a preference. Please discuss your child's needs with the staff at the nursery on your pre-starting visits so arrangements can be made in advance.
