Bridgend College are hosting the regional heat of the Skill M and E competitions on 28/29th April 2010 at the new Construction Academy, Pencoed Campus, along with the CSKILLS Junior Welsh Skills Competition Regional and National Final on 24th February and 18th March respectively.
SummitSkills organises Skill M and E, a set of annual skills competitions specifically for building sector, designed to select the finest plumbers, electricians, pipe fitters and refrigeration & air conditioning engineers in the UK.
Skill M and E consists of four skills competitions that search for the best of the best mechanical and electrical engineers from the building services engineering sector: SkillELECTRIC, SkillFRIDGE, SkillPLUMB and (new from 2009) SkillPIPE have been designed to promote standards and skills across the sector, developing competence into excellence.
Winners of the regional competitions also have the chance to become truly world-class at WorldSkills, the largest international skills competition in the world, managed by UK Skills.

Bridgend College also hosted the Wales Roadshow on Thursday 21st January 2010, where other Welsh Colleges including Coleg Sir Gar, Neath Port Talbot College and Coleg Llandrillo along with private training providers met to discuss the format of the regional heats, which was opened by Mark Bradley, Welsh Assembly Government.
