Carpentry StudentsThe Construction Department offers a wide range of courses in:

  • Brickwork
  • Carpentry
  • Construction / Civil Engineering
  • Interior Design & Decorating
  • Plumbing

Courses range from First Diploma to National Diploma to HND level, and allow students to study full-time or part-time around work and/or family commitments.

The courses are designed to for students who wish to learn a ‘trade' such as Brickwork or to enter a profession such as Architecture, Surveying or Civil Engineering.

Many students progress within the Construction Department at Bridgend College starting with a Level 2 course and leaving with a level 5 qualification, and often return to College to update skills as industry standards develop.

NEW Construction Academy opened January 2010

Bridgend College recently received funding to the tune of £3.2m from DCELLS (Welsh Assembly Government) to part finance a new state of the art Construction Academy at our Pencoed Campus which will cost £6.4m in total. 

The Academy brings plumbing, painting and decorating, brickwork and wood trades, from entry to degree level, and which were split between three of our campuses, together on one site.
